Define the organization

Configure your organisation in Binocs by creating teams and organizational entities. The organizational entities allow you to represent a multi-leveled hierarchy as found in most companies. The teams are placed at the bottom of this hierarchy. They bundle the resource capacity.

Create entities and teams

  1. Click the setup icon and select organization.

  2. Select the organizational entity in which you want to add an organizational entity or team.

  3. Click add an organizational entity to add an organizational entity or click add team to add a team in the selected organizational entity.

  4. Name the organizational entity or team. Names should be unique within the organization (Binocs will alert you if a name already exists). Optionally add a manager to the entity (this is an informational text field, but is not linked to users or user rights and is not used anywhere else).

  5. Repeat until the organisation structure is set up!

Tip: select a team in the organization:

  • Binocs shows you the number of team members for the team in the detail screen. Click the number of team members to go to the list of team members for this team. Here you can also remove team member(s).

  • Binocs shows you the number of services for the team in the detail screen. Click the number of services to go to the service catalog filtered for this team.

Remove entities,teams or team members**

  1. Select the entity or team and click delete.

  2. Confirm by clicking delete name of the entity/team in the dropdown menu.

Remark: a team can only be removed after removing the team members from the team. Entities with underlying entities or teams cannot be removed without firstly removing the underlying teams and entities.

  3. Click the number of team members to remove team member(s).

  4. That’s it!
